Indian Consulates will be conducting VISA camps at different places. Verify the schedule on the web site, stop by and get the passport renewed.

Another thought might be that the contacts on the lens isn't clean (or some other reason not making full contact).
Or just simply that the camera is broken. Have you spoken to Nikon or the shop where you bought the camera?

Need your help and experience in this!
I received an RFE for my EAD and AP a few days ago. This has to do with me not registering myself during the NSEERS Special Registration. They want to know why i did not register for the NSEERS.
I visited an attorney around March 2003 regarding the Special Registration and was adviced that I dont have to register because my last entry to the U.S. was in January 2003. That was when return for school after going back home for my Christmas holiday. I have been an F-1 student since September 1998.
Reading the NSEERS requirement (http://www.ice.gov/doclib/pi/specialregistration/Call_In_Group4.pdf), my interpretation is that i should be exempted since my last entry to the U.S. is AFTER September 30, 2002. Is my interpretation right or wrong?
Please advice.

This lawsuit is about the 140000 visas been given out each year and in years 2008 and 2009.
There have been many people who received GCs in 2008 and 2009 in EB2 without regard to Priority number. Check Visa Bulletins from August 2008 and September 2008. People from 2006 were given GCs over 2004 and there was total chaos.
This lawsuit is to bring justice to the last three years of absolute anarchy.
This lawsuit is to bring in line how this 140000 number is distributed. How does processing of I-485s take place in USCIS.
I think Indian EB3 will join shortly.
Why are you stopping at 2007? Issues stared much before that.
Why do you forget the getting details of each and every VISA that was issued between 2003 and 2007 (days of backlog elimination center)? We hae a right to know that. I doubt EB based guys got benefit out of it....I do not think USCIS /DOS will ever reveal those numbers truthfully and even with 50% accuracy....
They just put almost every True Employment based applicant in backlog and gave GCs to 245i....I dont think that was justice. That was manipulation

My wife is doing her MBA in H4. My PD is July 2008. Being on H4, you can save a lot of money in fees. And also you never know, If at all the visa re-capture bill is passed, you might able to file I-485. So My advice is to continue on H4.

Many lawyers charge companies hourly and usually big rates (usually regardless of how good the lawyer is and how simple your case is). Lawyers usually charge for every phone call and for every e-mail. So the employer might start worrying that your contacts might cost him a lot. Usually the respectable lawyer will not discuss anything with you directly if his client is your employer.
Just an advise for those who have an option: hire your own lawyers, you will see how different your case will go. Even if you have to pay them out of your pocket - it's worth it.

Filed for i140 on march 27th. Upgarded to premium processing on nov 15th. Today is dec 6th and nothing. The reason I filed for i140 thinking, if they have started this process and people are filing, that means the ones who are in regular are going to get pushed behind ever more. But I havent received any reply yet. Will let you'll know when something happens. I check my email atleast 20 times a day hopeing for a reply. GOOD LUCK :)

But why don't you still talk to your lawyer about the blank line 14? In my case my educational qualifications were listed and so on.

On the other hand, these bills propose to reduce annual allocation for EB-2 in terms of the percentage. When combining EB-3 for skilled workers/professionals with EB-3EW for unskilled workers, the combined EB-3 will run as high as 60% plus and minus. Besides, should Sen. Brownback amendment be legislated into law, a large number of nurses/physical therapists will be taken out of the burden in the EB-3 visa numbers. In the BECs, there still remain a huge number of mostly EB-3 cases including unskilled workers which will take out the immigrant visa numbers in the future, probably before the summer of year 2008. Still, 60+ of the total "increased" employment-based immigrant visa numbers must add upto a large number. Contrary to this trend, a large number of cases are filed in the EB-2 category these days. Considering the fact that EB-2 numbers may be reduced or maintain at the current level at best, EB-2 visa numbers may increasingly face the pressure.
* We hope that the history will not repeat itself. In the 1990s, there was a time when the EB-2 numbers were more oversubscribed than EB-3 for China. One may wonder whether it is time for the EB immigrants who attain the EB-2 labor certification to consider filing of EB-2 and EB-3 I-140 petitions concurrently or sequentially against the situation which reveal worse oversubscription of EB-2 over EB-3, particularly P.R. China. EB-2 labor certification is eligible for both EB-2 I-140 petition and EB-3 I-140 petition. It is a matter of paying additional $195 filing fees. Something to think about.

all i am saying is whether u r in eb1 or 2 or 3, we are all in a deep sh**t of this retrogression, you would never know, whether its good or bad being in a certain category in GC process, cos, most of the process su***s according to me. my perception is , if u have job in this country u work, and in this period, if u get ur GC, its good, if not, its not our fault. We are doing our part by supporting organisations like IV. But there is so much anti-immigration scentiments out these days, we get defeated so easily (eg S.1932). Work with IV and leave the rest to time.

I just bought a new D70 and was interested in getting some advise from current owners about additional lenses and accessories.
Was looking at buying a SB-800 flash. Is this the best option?
How about additional lenses? I have an 18-70mm AF that came with the camera.
I am looking for other nikkor lenses that are very handy to have, meaning won't sit in the bag most of the time.
Any other advice or help would be much appreciated.

Being current means very little. I've been there 3 times over the last few years. 4 years after filing my 485, and 2 RFEs later(each generated during a PD current period BTW) and 3 "currents", I am still waiting. I am on my 5th EAD.
So while optimism is good, with the USCIS don't get too hopeful. Incompetence abounds.
Can you share your experience on 2 RFE that you received?

Hi,
Quick question here. Suppose the h1 receipt was not attached and the application was already sent by july2. Can we send in a copy of H1 extension receipt now ?
My h1b visa expired in april 2007 and extension was filed in feb 2007. I94 also expired in april 2007. I am thinking as long as u apply aos application within 180 days of being out of status for any reason we are in status.
Correct me if im wrong and add any info that you may feel is relevant..

last week we heard about Trivalley.
eb-3 -> eb2 seems like a minuscule problem now.
We are self destructing ourselves by making US gov loose complete trust on indian credibility with few of the above among hundreds of nuances we are causing.
If you are like me.. always following rules.. light at the end of tunnel seem to be diminishing very quickly than what we thought.
Nothing new here. There'll be Indians, Mexicans, Africans. Anybody in the world who has an appetite for risk, and a desperate need to be in America will make it to Mexico and run across the border, just like the millions of illegals already did. The border's a joke and you can't blame the illegals if the USA allows people to get away with it even if they get caught. Why, you could even earn a red carpet to citizenship if you do that, under some proposed legislation.
